JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — Jose Mateo of Johnson City kept Bluefield scoreless through five innings, allowing three hits, and the Cardinals went on to defeat the Orioles for the second straight game, 10-4 Tuesday on an 85-degree night.

Bluefield got its first two runs in the sixth when Omar Javier replaced Mateo. Kraig Binick doubled to left and Matthew Tucker followed with his third homer of the year, over right field.

In the eighth, Jason White doubled and came home on a Binick single. The Orioles’ final score was a solo home run by Richard D’Oleo in the ninth. White batted 2-for-4 in the game and Binick went 2-for-3, raising his average to .427.

Bluefield relief pitchers Bryan Lee and Ezequiel Selen allowed three and four earned runs, respectively, and the Orioles had three errors to the Cardinals’ none.

Adron Chambers of Johnson City notched three RBI, going 2-for-4. Beau Riportella was 2-for-3, walking twice and scoring two runs.

The Orioles are back at Bowen Field to host the Greeneville Astros tonight and Thursday. A weekend doubleheader will shuttle Bluefield and Princeton back and forth across Mercer County.
