MARION, Va. — The Graham golf team prepped for Monday’s Southwest District golf tournament with a third place finish in a quad match on Wednesday at Holston Hills Country Club.

Matt Morgan, Hunter O’Neal and Morgan Brewster shot 41s, while Aaron Gillespie added a 42 for the G-Men, which fired a nine-hole total of 165.

The SWD match will be Monday starting at 10 a.m. at Holston Hills. The top teams and individuals will qualify for Region IV action to be played on Oct. 6 at Fincastle Country Club in Bluefield.

Prep Volleyball

TAZEWELL, Va. — Tazewell won a pair of matches earlier this week against Grundy and Bland County, improving to 4-5 on the season.

Lindsey Scribner (16 points, 7 assists) and Brittney Muncy (7 kills, 3 blocks) led Tazewell to a 25-23, 25-16, 25-16 win over the Golden Wave.

The Bulldogs also scrubbed the Bears 26-24, 25-17, 19-25, 25-23 behind Natalie Parsons’ 25 points, six kills and two blocks. Sydnei Lester (12 kills, 9 digs, 3 blocks), Cecil Cecil (11 digs, 7 kills) and Scribner (9 digs, 8 points, 8 assists) also produced in the win.

Prep Soccer

PikeView 2, Indy 1

BECKLEY — Joe Webb scored two goals to lead PikeView. Casey Weatherly had an assist, while Aaron Nash had four saves in goal.

PikeView (4-6) hosted Nicholas County on Thursday night.

College Volleyball

Bluefield 3, VI 1

BLUEFIELD, Va. — Alysha Cornell collected 13 kills and 14 digs, and Lisa Reale dished out 34 assists, leading Bluefield to a 25-13, 25-18, 21-25, 28-26 AAC win over winless Virginia Intermont on Wednesday at the Dome Gymnasium.

Jodi Smith (11 kills, 18 digs), Felicia Marmo (27 digs) and Megan Criss (10 kills) also helped the Rams (6-10) improved to 5-4 in the AAC. Reale added 18 digs for Bluefield, which hosts Charleston on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Virginia Intermont dropped to 0-18, and 0-5 in the AAC.

College Soccer

W.Va. Wesleyan 2, Concord 0

BUCKHANNON — Meghan Zayas and Katie Schubert scored for the Yellow Jackets in WVIAC soccer on Wednesday.

Concord (3-7, 1-1) was led by Sarah Coehlo, who had 10 saves in goal. Caroline Lally had three saves for the Jackets.

The Mountain Lions will host Shepherd on Sunday at noon.

Middle School

Bluefield 7, Shady Spring 3

BECKLEY — Michael Goforth scored four goals and Justin Phillips added two, leading the Buccaneers to a win over the Tigers on Wednesday.

Justin Freund added one goal for Bluefield.

Princeton 4, Eastern Greenbrier 3

PRINCETON — Taj Johnson scored two goals and Hannah Preservati and Shayla Walls had one apiece for Princeton (4-0). Walls and Mason McClaugherty had an assist apiece.

In JV action, Princeton (2-1) lost 3-2. Matthew Peoples scored, while Ashley Culicerto had two assists.
