Summit Players is extremely excited about this season’s Christmas presentation! The two Virginias’ theatrical community has come together to present McDowell County playwright and McArts founder, Jean Battlo’s “A Coal Camp Christmas Carol.”

Directed by Princetonian Don Warrick, Executive Director of the Chuck Mathena Center, this show features talent from Mercer, McDowell and Tazewell Counties.

There are some changes in the production schedule that need to be emphasized. Dinner will begin at 6:15 (not 6:30) and the curtain at 7:30 (not 8). Reservations will be secured by credit card but payment will still be made by check or cash at the door. Summit Players must pay the caterer for the number of reservations, not the number that actually attend. Therefore, the credit card will be used to charge for the “no-shows.”

The matinee schedule is unchanged with no reservations required; the curtain is at 2 p.m. Additionally, Donna’s Restaurant will be open for brunch prior to the Sunday matinee. During each dinner and before the matinees, a variety of local artists will present seasonal music selections.

Our magnificent Four Seasons Country will grow and flourish if we all come together for cooperative ventures. Perhaps the arts can become the catalyst for major attitude changes envisioned by so many!
