BLUEFIELD — The Bluefield Police Department is investigating a threat made to Bluefield High School on social media.
According to the Mercer County Board of Education, law enforcement officers will be present at Bluefield High School today to ensure student safety. The school is operating under a normal schedule.
"A potential threat for today at Bluefield High School was posted to social media," the school board said in a statement posted on its Facebook page. "Mercer County Schools takes all potential threats seriously. In that vein, Mercer County Schools has instituted steps to help ensure student safety. Local law enforcement have been contacted and will be present today at Bluefield High School. School will operate on a regular schedule."
An unrelated threat made to Princeton High School Tuesday was deemed inappropriate.
