Jamie Parsell Null has been named as the new executive director of the Mercer County Convention & Visitors Bureau. Null, a native of Mercer County, was previously the lifestyle editor for the Bluefield Daily Telegraph as well as the editor for the women's magazine Prerogative. She started working with the Bluefield Daily Telegraph in 2007.
During her time at the paper, Null was involved in the planning of several events at Chicory Square, the Women's Expo, the Better Living Show and more. She has won numerous awards for her journalistic efforts, most recently being awarded 1st place for Best News Feature Story by the West Virginia Press Association. Null has served the community with her participation in and volunteering with organizations like WE CAN, WISE, the Little Jimmie Community Christmas Tree project and the Prerogative Animal Shelter Drive. She lives in Bluefield with her husband Evan.
Null said she looks forward to working with the bureau to promote tourism and economic growth in Mercer County. Marie Blackwell, current executive director, will be continuing her duties with the bureau through the end of 2014 at which time she will continue to serve the bureau and Mercer County as an outside marketing director.
Blackwell has been executive director since Jan. 1, 2010.
