BLUEFIELD — The Community Christmas Tree fund passed the $18,000 mark Sunday. And, with the children’s party less than a week away, $6,156 must still be raised to meet this year’s goal of $25,000.

Sponsored by the Bluefield Daily Telegraph, the Community Tree program provides gifts of toys, fruits, candy and other goodies to children throughout southern West Virginia and Southwest Virginia who may otherwise go without at Christmas.

A party for the children, where gifts will be distributed, will be held Friday, Dec. 23, at the Bluefield Youth Center on Stadium Drive.

Those who would like to contribute to the Community Christmas Tree program can mail donations to: Bluefield Daily Telegraph, c/o Community Christmas Tree, P.O. Box 1599, Bluefield, WV, 24701. Make checks payable to Community Christmas Tree Fund.
