A former administrator of the Bluefield, Va. Rescue Squad has been indicted by the Tazewell County Grand Jury on one charge of embezzlement.

The grand jury indicted Thomas Franklin Carroll, 49,  after a special agent with the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations presented his findings March 13 to the Tazewell County Grand Jury, according to the Virginia State Police.

The embezzlement is alleged to have occurred from January 2008 until June 2011, according to Sgt. Michael Conroy of the Virginia State Police.

Conroy could only confirm that the alleged amount of the embezzlement is at more than $100,000. The investigation revealed questionable financial transactions including misuse of multiple credit cards, adjustment of pay without proper approval, and obtaining a loan using rescue squad equipment as collateral. The state police started the investigation in June 2011, according to the release.
