BLUEFIELD — A Mercer County man, Joshua Dwayne Poff, 20, of Bluefield, was sentenced to six years in prison plus a 15-year period of supervised release after pleading guilty to a one-count federal indictment alleging that he possessed images of child pornography.
Senior U.S. District Judge David A. Faber of the Southern District of West Virginia announced his sentence and allowed the defendant to self-report to the U.S. Marshal’s Office in Charleston within one month.
“I am deeply troubled by the number of these cases that are coming before me. I’m convinced that we need, as a society, to do something about this problem. It ruins the lives of innocent children,” Faber said.
Det. Sgt. S.A. Sommers of the West Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force and Mercer County Sheriff’s Department was the lead investigator on the case.
