A Monroe County jury Friday returned a verdict of guilty without mercy against Joshua Neal Hubbard for the June 2013 murder of Danny Ray Richardson.
The jury also found Hubbard guilty on the second charge of conspiring with his victim's wife, Amber Richardson, to kill her husband. Amber Richardson was convicted earlier this year of conspiracy and accessory before the fact. She is serving a life term in prison.
The jury deliberated a bit less than three hours before returning the guilty verdicts against Hubbard. "No mercy" means that he will not be eligible for parole.
Both Hubbard and Amber Richardson testified in their respective trials that they were lovers at the time of Danny Ray Richardson’s death.
But Hubbard maintained in testimony Thursday that he had abandoned the murder plan by the time he admittedly killed his lover’s husband, shooting the man in self-defense.
