PRINCETON — Human remains discovered in the southeastern area of Mercer County have been identified as a missing Princeton woman, West Virginia State Police officials said Tuesday.

The remains are that of Amanda Presutti, who was reported missing by her family on June 9, First Sgt. J.K. Cooper, district commander of the Princeton and Welch detachments, said.

The initial remains were discovered around 7 p.m. Thursday, and a continued search of the area resulted in more remains being located, Cooper said.

“We suspect foul play,” Cooper said Tuesday.

The Mercer County case has not been linked to two other cases of human remains recently found in neighboring McDowell County.

Senior Trooper D.B. Whited is lead investigator on the Mercer County case.
