GARY — Larry Edward Dalton, age 62, of McDowell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Gary, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, following complications from Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born February 28, 1945 in Welch, he was the son of Vivian Farley Dalton of Vivian and the late Ernest “Jigger” Dalton. He was a 1963 graduate of Welch High School, and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He attended the Gary United Methodist Church, Gary, and was very active in the community youth affairs. He was a retired mine foreman from U.S. Steel No. 2 Mine at Gary, and a resident of Gary most of his life.

Other than his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmy “Bo” Dalton; and maternal and paternal grandparents.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Linda Moore Dalton of the home; one daughter, Kelly Metz and husband Matthew of Pawleys Island, S.C.; two sons, Keith Dalton and wife Pam of South Charleston, Kraig Dalton and wife Joy of Hurricane; one brother, Bobby Dalton and wife Rev. Martha Dalton of Carswell; three sisters, Barbara Hendy and husband Mike of Milton, Vt., Carolyn “Sue” Gillespie and Billy Ratliff of Vivian, Patricia Tilley and husband Bobby of Vivian; four grandsons, Joshua, Jordan Dalton, Zachary Vandevander, and Korey Dalton; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday (Nov. 19, 2007) at 12:00 noon at the Gary United Methodist Church, Gary with the Rev. Greg Blair and the Rev. Martha Dalton officiating. Burial will follow at the Woodlawn Memorial Park, Bluewell where military services will be conducted by West Virginia National Guard.

Friends may call Sunday night from 6 to 9:00 p.m. at the Widener Funeral Home, Kimball and at the church Monday one hour prior to services.

Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers.
