Harold Bailey

PRINCETON — Harold Bailey, 73, of 106 Mountain View Drive in Princeton died Thursday, March 12, 2009 at his residence. Born October 5, 1935 in McDowell County he was the son of the late Wirt W. and Sadie Walker Bailey. He retired in 1975 from the U.S. Air Force with twenty-one years service in aircraft maintenance. After retirement he received his degree from Concord University and was a former employee at Concord University in the maintenance department with seventeen years service. He was also a greeter at Wal-Mart in Princeton for five years.

In addition to his parents, two brothers, David Bailey and James Bailey; and several stepbrothers and sisters preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-two years, Myrtle Frances Davis Bailey of Princeton; two sons, Richard Bailey and Steven Bailey both of Princeton; three grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Phillips of Bluefield and Jewel Akel and her husband Terry Brown of Wadesboro, N.C.; two brothers, Perry E. Bailey and wife Treva of Zephyr Hills, Fla. and Jackie Bailey of Rich Creek, Va.; and two stepbrothers, Granville Walker and wife Julie and Landon Walker and wife Margie all of Clinton, Md.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2009 at the George W. Seaver Chapel of Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton with the Rev. Jeff Beckett officiating. Entombment will follow at Resthaven Park Mausoleum in Princeton where the Mercer County Veterans Council and the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard will conduct military graveside rites. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Friends called at Seaver Funeral Home in Princeton from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday.
