A medical emergency was believed to be the cause of a single-vehicle
accident Friday afternoon on Route 19 outside of Bluefield. Deputy K.M.
Saddler, with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Department, said the driver of
the Ford truck was traveling east on Route 19 toward 460 when a medical
emergency occurred. The vehicle then crossed the roadway and went over
an embankment. Saddler said the driver was transported to Bluefield
Regional Medical Center by the Bluefield Rescue Squad. The Green Valley
Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the crash.
