BLUEFIELD — Jimmy Manuel Johnson, 64, of Bluefield, departed this life on Tuesday, August 28, 2007, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on February 1, 1943 in Pocahontas, Va., Jimmy was the son of the late Willie and Lillie Johnson.

Jimmy was a member of the Greater Mount Zion Pentecostal Church of Bluefield. He was a graduate of Park Central High School. Jimmy served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps. He worked as an orderly at a hospital in Philadelphia, Pa., and St. Luke’s Hospital in Bluefield. He also worked for a short while for the Norfolk and Western Railroad.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jeff Johnson.

He leaves to cherish his memory two sons: Damon Johnson of Pocahontas, Va. and Jimmy Johnson Jr. of Philadelphia, Pa.; one daughter; cousins: Bettye R. Evans of Mitchellville, Md., Brenda Coles of Willow Grove, Pa., Claude Jones of Bluefield, Va., Nellie Coles of Pennsylvania; and other cousins, relatives and friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007, at 1:00 p.m. at the G.H. Sinkford Memorial Chapel of Richardson Funeral Home in Bluefield with the Bishop Clarence E. Moore officiating. Burial will follow at the Grafton National Cemetery in Grafton.
