PRINCETON — Dixie Lee Law Sisk, 73, of the New Hope Road, Princeton, died Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Princeton Community Hospital after a long illness.

Born November 20, 1936 in Lerona, she was the daughter of the late John “Not” Law and Ruth Goodall Law.

Dixie was a graduate of Princeton High School and received her Bachelors Degree from Bluefield State College, Magna Cum Laude at the young age of 53.

Dixie loved her Lord, her family and her country. While her health permitted, she was an active member of Ceres Baptist Church working with the Youth and Women’s Programs. She was a lifetime member of the Valley Women Club, and served as a volunteer at Ceres Elementary School’s Reading Program.

Dixie had been the Librarian for the Princeton Public Library and Craft Memorial Library in Bluefield. Dixie along with her husband Tommy, served as State Coordinator for Christian Service Co-Op for Campers on Mission for the State of West Virginia. She was a charter member of the Princeton Camera Club and was instrumental in organizing the annual photo display held at Mercer Mall each year. She was given an honorary membership with the Marine Corp League of Mercer County. Dixie had also worked as a reporter for the Princeton Times. Dixie was truly dedicated to her commitments within the church, community, schools, work and especially her family. She will be missed by all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Lance Corporal Juston Tyler Thacker.

Those left to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of 57 years, Tommy E. Sisk; two loving daughters and husbands, Sharon and Gregory Bowling, Genia and Kenneth Meadows; her two grandsons, whom she loved dearly, Parker and Lucas Meadows, all of Princeton; four siblings and spouses, Tommy and Rinda Law of Beckley, Retired Master Sergeant USAF, Jimmie and Rosemary Law of Mission, Texas, Eugene and Sandra Law, Sandra and David Bolton, all of Princeton; special cousin, Betty McMillion of Charleston; her extended family at Princeton Oncology and the volunteers at Princeton Community Hospital; a host of nieces and nephews.

A service to celebrate the life of Dixie Sisk was held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 15, 2010 from the Burns Wornal Chapel of the Memorial Funeral Directory on the Athens Road in Princeton with Pastors James Mooney and Jim Simmons officiating. Burial followed in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

A time of sharing and gathering was held Friday, May 14, 2010 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends may share with online condolence via www.memorialfd.com

Serving as pallbearers will be Parker Meadows, Michael Law, Tim Law, Michael Bolton, Jeffrey Bolton and Larry Law. Honorary pallbearers will be Lucas Meadows and Jonathon Taylor.
