Marshall frat truck fire investigated as arson

Associated Press

HUNTINGTON — Huntington authorities say a fire that damaged a Marshall University fraternity’s fire truck was deliberately set.

The 1967 International Engine fire truck sits on the front lawn of the Phi Kappa Alpha fraternity house near Marshall’s campus. It’s a memorial to a fraternity member who died in the 1990s.

City fire marshal Steve Ellis tells The Herald-Dispatch that someone put a propane tank inside the truck and then set the vehicle on fire.

Phi Kappa Alpha alumni Cameron Wadley says the fraternity and alumni plan to raise money to repair or replace the truck, which is known as “Thumper.”
