Police have identified two brothers who were fatally shot in Barboursville while looking at property that one had recently purchased.
The Cabell County Sheriff’s Department tells media outlets that 60-year-old Garrick Hopkins from the Milton area and 61-year-old Carl Hopkins Jr. of Oak Hill died Saturday following the shootings.
Police have charged 62-year-old Rodney Bruce Black of Barboursville with two first-degree murder counts.
The sheriff’s department says Black called 911 and told dispatchers that he shot two people who were breaking into his outbuilding.
The sheriff’s department says Garrick Hopkins owned the outbuilding. It is on a lot near Black’s home that Garrick Hopkins recently purchased.
Garrick Hopkins was showing the property to his brother when they were shot.
