More than 205,000 customers lose power in W.Va.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) — More than 205,000 customers are without power in West Virginia as Superstorm Sandy buried parts of the state under more than a foot of snow.

FirstEnergy's website says 110,000 Mon Power and Potomac Edison customers had no electricity Tuesday morning in 39 counties. The hardest-hit counties are Preston with more than 16,000 outages, Randolph with 15,500 and Berkeley with nearly 10,000.

Appalachian Power says nearly 97,000 customers are without service in 19 counties. That includes nearly 23,000 in Kanawha County, 11,000 in Fayette County, 9,300 in Cabell County, 8,400 in Boone County and 8,300 in Raleigh County.
