A fourth child has died from injuries suffered in a house fire in Elkins.
The state Fire Marshal’s Office tells media outlets that the 11-year-old girl died Tuesday at West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh.
Elkins Fire Chief Tim Meader tells media outlets that a 2-year-old also died Tuesday at the Pittsburgh hospital. The 2-year-old’s twin and a 4-year-old died at the scene of the fire on Monday.
The children’s parents and an adult family member were injured and remain hospitalized at West Penn.
The victims’ names haven’t been released.
Meader says the house’s main exits were blocked by fire. The house’s only smoke detector didn’t have batteries.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined. The investigation is continuing.
