Mobile, tele-health clinics to help W.Va. veterans

PRINCETON (AP) — The Department of Veterans Affairs is bringing new mobile health and tele-health clinics to Mercer County.

Sens. Jay Rockefeller and Joe Manchin, and Rep. Nick Rahall say the clinics aim to help the growing number of veterans in the area access needed mental health and medical services.

Officials say the clinics will be an extension of the Beckley VA Medical Center.

The fully self-contained center will include two exam rooms, a waiting area and a restroom. Delivery of the mobile clinic typically takes about six to eight months.

The tele-health facility is expected to open in the fall. It will provide mental health services and access to a variety of specialty consultative services including dermatology, gynecology, general surgery and the weight management program.
