MOUNT OLIVE, W.Va. (AP) — Three convicted murderers are in segregation at Mount Olive Correctional Complex after trying to escape from the West Virginia prison.
The West Virginia Division of Corrections says Keith Lowe, Stephen Wilson and Daniel Smith tried to escape the facility Tuesday night.
WSAZ-TV reports (http://bit.ly/Lyvecn ) that guards noticed the three were not in their housing unit but they were found less than 15 minutes later.
Officials say they had a plan to breach the complex's security and escape the facility, but they were never able to leave the central grounds of the prison.
All three men are being interviewed by the West Virginia State Police.
