W.Va. sheriff’s deputy indicted in accident

MARTINSBURG — A Berkeley County sheriff’s deputy has been indicted on fraud and other charges related to a vehicle crash he was involved in after leaving a strip club.

Media outlets report a grand jury indicted Patrick D. Ware of Martinsburg on Thursday. He’s charged with three counts of filing a fraudulent insurance claim, two counts of providing false information to state police and one count of driving under the influence.

The indictment says Ware was driving his SUV off duty but told police his girlfriend was behind the wheel when the accident occurred May 1 near Martinsburg. Ware also allegedly denied in statements to an insurance company that drinking or drug use was involved.

Ware’s girlfriend, Mindy Selph, was indicted on charges of submitting fraudulent claims, providing false information and conspiracy.
