Ceiling of W.Va. Senate to undergo inspection

CHARLESTON — The ceiling of the West Virginia Senate chamber will be surveyed for damage for the first time in more than 15 years.

Media outlets report desks were removed from the chamber on Thursday. A chandelier also was lowered for cleaning.

Scaffolding will be built for next week’s inspection.

Assistant Senate clerk Lee Cassis says the inspection will determine whether repairs will be needed.

The same Charleston contractor that’s handling the Senate chamber inspection also did repair work on windows and trim in the Governor’s Mansion.
