Crews are working to remove three massive rocks that fell onto W.Va. Route 3 in Raleigh County.
The road has been closed near Sundial since the rocks fell from a mountainside on Friday.
Blasting and drilling to break up the rocks began Sunday. Division of Highways assistant district engineer Alan Reed tells The Register-Herald that the road could reopen by the end of the week.
Department of Transportation senior engineering adviser Jimmy Wriston says he and Reed will consult with DOH geotechnical engineers to determine how to stabilize the mountain.
