Police: 4 in Va. killed in apparent murder-suicide

MATOACA, Va. — Police say a Chesterfield County couple and two children have been fatally shot in an apparent murder-suicide.

Media outlets report that the shootings occurred late Sunday night at a residence in the Matoaca area.

Chesterfield County police Lt. John Miller tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch that officers found the bodies of the father and a 2-year-old boy inside the home.

Miller says the mother and a 9-year-old girl were found outside the residence. The mother died at the scene. The girl was taken to a hospital, where she died.

Miller says all four family members had been shot. He says police aren’t searching for any suspects.

The family hasn’t been identified, pending notification of relatives.
