Gauge with radioactive material recovered in Va

DINWIDDIE, Va. — Authorities are investigating the theft of a gauge containing radioactive material in Dinwiddie County.

The Virginia Department of Health says in a news release that the moisture density gauge was stolen Wednesday afternoon from a jobsite and later recovered. It’s now in the hands of local law enforcement.

Health department personnel have been sent to Dinwiddie County to examine the device to ensure that it is safe and secure. They also will investigate the incident.
