Cuccinelli: McAuliffe would threaten state’s coal

ROANOKE, Va. —  Republican Ken Cuccinelli says Virginia’s coal industry is at risk if voters side with Democratic rival Terry McAuliffe.

Cuccinelli told supporters Thursday that McAuliffe is “all in on the war on coal.” He says that a McAuliffe victory would eliminate thousands of Virginia jobs and threaten the state’s economy.

McAuliffe has emphasized the possibility that new energy technologies, such as wind turbines that could be built off Virginia’s coast, have the potential to create jobs.

Cuccinelli says he wants a clean economy but also wants his children to have a job.

He also says he also wants more focus on domestic oil and gas production. He says he’d like to go to the gas station and give his money to friendly governments.
