State Police release name of third victim of I-81 crash in Southwest Virginia

RURAL RETREAT, Va. — Virginia State Police have released the name of the third victim who died as a result of injuries received in a 3-vehicle wreck Wednesday afternoon in Smyth County at the 54 mile marker of I-81 in the southbound lanes.

Kenterrious Learn Christian, 27, of Greenwood, S.C., died while he was being transported to a hospital following a crash that occurred at about 3:30 p.m. The wreck occurred when a load shifted on a tanker truck hauling 8,500 gallons of gasoline, causing it to crash into a pickup truck and a highway crash cushion truck, according to the Associated Press.

The fuel tanker driver, Frank A Skeens Jr., 48, of Castlewood, Va., and the pickup driver, Trevor Blankenship, 30, of Lebanon, Va., died at the scene of the crash.
