Part of I64E in Virginia closed after body found

RICHMOND, Va. — An eastbound section of Interstate 64 in New Kent County is closed while police investigate a body found on the highway.

Virginia State Police spokesman Sgt. Thomas Molnar says the male victim had been hit by several vehicles.

The body was reported around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Molnar says police are searching for the driver of a white tractor-trailer that left the scene. The tractor-trailer’s front driver’s side is damaged.

The eastbound lanes are closed at the 205 mile marker. Motorists are being detoured off the Bottoms Bridge Exit.

The body will be taken to the medical examiner’s officer for identification.
