Missing Va. teen focus of Sunday search

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Volunteers are heading out this weekend to search for a Nelson County teenager who was last seen Aug. 3.

The Daily Progress reports that the search for Alexis Murphy will start Sunday in Lovingston, where she was last seen at a gas station.

The 17-year-old Shipman woman told her family she was headed to Lexington for a shopping trip. When she did not return, authorities launched a search that located her car in Albemarle County parking lot several days later.

A 48-year-old Lovingston man, Randy Allen Taylor, has been charged with her disappearance. He has denied the charge.

Volunteers who want to join the search are asked to meet at E.C. Glass High School at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.
