Va. woman charged after baby found dead in toilet

DINWIDDIE, Va. — A Virginia woman faces a murder charge in the death of a newborn whose body was found in a toilet.

The Dinwiddie County Sheriff’s Office tells media outlets that 22-year-old Devin Monique Small is charged with first-degree murder.

Police say Small had given birth to the infant in a toilet at a residence in the Sutherland area. Deputies found the infant dead in the toilet around 2 a.m. Saturday.

Small was being held Wednesday without bond at the Meherrin Regional Jail.

The investigation is continuing.
