Va. man arrested in carjacking case

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach man has been charged with stealing a car at gunpoint from a man he had arranged to meet over the sale of a cell phone.

Media outlets say 19-year-old Michael Antonio Perry is charged with carjacking, robbery and two firearms counts.

Virginia Beach police say Perry had placed an online advertisement to sell a cell phone and arranged to meet a potential buyer in a shopping center parking lot on July 28. Perry is accused of demanding money and the victim’s car keys. The car was located a few blocks away.

Perry is being held without bond at the Virginia Beach Correctional Facility. It wasn’t immediately known whether Perry has an attorney.
