Va ice cream driver accused of inappropriate acts

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (AP) — Police in Newport News say an ice cream truck driver has been arrested on charges involving alleged inappropriate acts with children present.

Newport News police spokesman Lou Thurston said Portsmouth police arrested 33-year-old Erick Pena-Carrillo at his Portsmouth home about 12:45 p.m. Thursday after a tip from the public.

Thurston said warrants charge Pena-Carrillo with two counts of taking indecent liberties with a child and one count of indecent exposure.

Thurston says Pena-Carrillo was being questioned by Newport News detectives Thursday afternoon and it wasn't immediately known whether he had an attorney.

Thurston tells WAVY-TV (http://bit.ly/RK40Sm) that a 10-year-old Newport News girl told police a truck driver made inappropriate comments and touched himself while she was trying to buy ice cream Oct. 12. Detectives later identified a second 10-year-old victim.
