Danville muffler shop gets stolen robot dog back

DANVILLE, Va. (AP) — Muffles the robot dog has come home.

Someone stole Muffles from outside the Scarce Muffler Shop in Danville about two weeks ago, along with a park bench.

The shop’s owner and Muffles’ creator, Roger Crews, tells the Danville Register & Bee that Muffles and the bench reappeared outside the shop on Friday night.

Crews says neither was damaged.

Crews constructed Muffles and a robot family from spare automobile parts last summer for vacation Bible school at Shermont Baptist Church. He later displayed them outside his shop.

He says Muffles will now reside in the shop’s lobby.
