Civil War-era movie set for preview in Warrenton

WARRENTON, Va. — Director Ron Maxwell is set to preview his new Civil War-era movie in Warrenton ahead of its release in theaters.

The director of “Gettysburg” and “Gods and Generals” will preview his new movie “Copperhead” on Tuesday. Maxwell resides in Rappahannock County.

“Copperhead” is based on novel by Harold Frederic, who was a small child during the Civil War. The movie stars Peter Fonda, Billy Campbell, and Angus MacFadyen.

The film is about an upstate New York family torn apart in 1862 during the Civil War.

The screening for the Rappahannock Civil War Sesquicentennial Committee is open to the public.
