Va. woman found dead in wrecked SUV, man charged

CLINTWOOD, Va. —  A Clintwood man has been charged with first-degree murder after police found a woman dead inside a wrecked sport-utility vehicle.

Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says the SUV was rammed by 38-year-old Adam W. Stanley’s vehicle and ran off Dickenson Highway on Tuesday afternoon.

A passenger in the SUV, 33-year-old Rachel N. Coleman of Haysi, was found dead inside the vehicle. The driver, 37-year-old Katrina L. Bartley of Clintwood, was taken to a hospital in Kingsport, Tenn., for treatment of serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Geller says the women’s injuries didn’t occur in the wreck. She says details aren’t being released because the investigation is ongoing.

Coleman’s body was sent to the medical examiner in Roanoke.
