Police: Man tried to abduct woman from parking lot

WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Prince William County police say a man strangled a woman as he tried to abduct her from a parking lot near Potomac Mills mall.

Police say a woman who works at the mall in Woodbridge told police she was standing next to her vehicle after getting off work on Thursday night, when a man asked for directions.

During the encounter, police say the man grabbed the woman and began to choke her. They fell to the ground as they struggled, then police say the man demanded the woman’s keys and tried to force her into the backseat. After the struggle, police say the man ran off.

The woman reported minor injuries.

Police searched the area, but did not find the man.
