Severely injured dog found in bag in Va Beach

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Virginia Beach officials are looking for the owner of a severely injured dog found behind a city recycling center wrapped in a burlap sack.

Michael Dimino found the elderly female Boston terrier next to the Virginia Beach Municipal Center on Thursday morning.

He was dropping off cardboard when he heard a sound and then found the dog injured, but still breathing.

WAVY-TV reports that Dimino put the dog in a tote and rushed it to the vet. The dog had suffered a severe head injury and veterinarians had no choice but to put the dog to sleep.

Veterinarians say the least 10-year-old dog was suffering from a bad flea infestation and had one of its eyes was surgically removed at some point in the past.
