Southern Living tailgate competition underway

CHARLESTON — Marshall, West Virginia University and Virginia Tech are among the schools in a magazine’s competition to determine who has the top college football tailgate parties in the South.

Southern Living’s September issue that hits newsstands Friday has 15 colleges in the running for “The South’s Best Tailgate.”

Editor-in-chief Lindsay Bierman says readers are being asked to determine the school that best honors the tradition of Southern hospitality with “the most stylish and spirited spread.”

Other schools in the magazine’s competition are Alabama, Appalachian State, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Mississippi, Oklahoma State, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt.

Online voting runs daily until Sept. 30 at www.southernliving.com/tailgate .

Clemson won last year’s competition.
