HERNDON, Va. —
Authorities are investigating the theft of approximately 400 ornamental fish from a Herndon-area business park pond.
Fairfax County police say the koi, an ornamental variety of carp, were stolen on at least four occasions in June from the pond in the 2400 block of Dulles Corner Park. Employees saw two men who claimed to be maintenance workers checking on the health of the fish and removing unhealthy ones. The men were seen removing the fish with nets and placing them into coolers. Employees contacted police after realizing the men were not who they claimed to be.
Employees said the men wore sunglasses and appeared to be in their 50s.
