Mom charged after son calls 911 saying he’s hungry

BRISTOW, Va. —  A mother has been charged with child neglect after Prince William County police say her 4-year-old son called 911 asking for help because he was hungry.

Officers went to the Bristow home on Wednesday morning and police say they found the boy home alone. Forty-three-year-old Love Sonia Altagracia Polanco Franklin returned home a short while later and was arrested. She was charged with felony child neglect and released.

Police say they don’t know how long the child had been left alone, but another relative is taking care of him.
