Police say in a news release that 59-year-old Dennis Michael Wright of Roanoke is charged with attempted capital murder of a law enforcement officer, attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer and several weapons counts.

Police say the suspect entered the Health and Rehab Center at Friendship Retirement Community around 11 p.m. Monday and fired a shot into the ceiling. He then ordered the staff to leave.
