Man’s body recovered from Elizabeth River

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Portsmouth emergency crews have recovered the body of a man who disappeared after entering the Elizabeth River.

Portsmouth police Detective Misty Holley tells media outlets that the man’s body was found at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. He went into the water with his 4-year-old son Monday evening.

Holley says the boy was rescued by the man’s sister. The boy was taken to a local hospital for observation.

The 43-year-old man’s name hasn’t been released.
