Va. mansion director subpoenaed in ex-chef’s case

RICHMOND, Va. — The director of Virginia’s Executive Mansion has been subpoenaed to testify in the embezzlement case against the mansion’s former chef.

A defense witness list filed Wednesday in Richmond Circuit Court says Sarah Scarbrough has been called to testify at Monday’s hearing on a motion to dismiss four felony charges against Todd Schneider.

The document also notes that Schneider’s attorney has asked for court approval to subpoena Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and one of his top aides, Patrick Dorgan. Judge Margaret Spencer has not ruled on that request, which Cuccinelli and a special prosecutor opposed. No other names are on Schneider’s witness list.

Schneider claims Gov. Bob McDonnell required him to cater private and political events and accept as payment food from the mansion kitchen that he’s now accused of stealing.
