McAulife outpaces Cuccinelli in fundraising

RICHMOND, Va. — Democrat Terry McAulife’s campaign is outpacing Republican rival Ken Cuccinelli in fundraising in Virginia’s gubernatorial race.

McAulife’s campaign reported on Monday that it raised more than $1.9 million in June. Attorney General Cuccinelli reported raising more than $1.1 million in the same time period.

McAulife also is leading Cuccinelli when it comes to the total amount of cash each campaign has available to spend. McAulife reported having more than $6 million in cash on hand. Cuccinelli reported having $2.7 million in cash on hand.

McAulife and Cuccinelli are running to replace Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell, who is barred from Virginia’s Constitution from running for a second term.
