Reward offered in probe of Va. fire that killed 4

PETERSBURG, Va. — The U.S. Marshals Service has joined the search for a person of interest in a Petersburg fire that killed four people.

Media outlets report that the Marshals Service is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of 47-year-old Alexander Roosevelt Hill Jr.

Hill was scheduled to be tried Wednesday in Petersburg Circuit Court on a charge of making a telephone death threat last December to a relative of the fire’s victims.

Petersburg Commonwealth’s Attorney Cassandra Conover tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the judge issued an arrest warrant for Hill after he failed to appear for his trial.

The fire occurred April 19. Police say the victims were three women and a young boy.
