CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Five school architectural projects have earned state awards.

The schools, along with three architectural firms, are being recognized by the Virginia School Boards Association. The association is holding its annual convention later this week in Williamsburg.

The winning projects include Indian River and Yorktown high schools, Frederick Douglas and Loch Lomond elementary school, and Buford Middle School’s engineering design academy.

They were chosen from among 15 entries submitted by nine architectural firms in the areas of new construction, renovation and adaptive use of existing space.
