Va. woman gets 22 years in infant son’s death

DANVILLE, Va. — A Danville woman has been sentenced to 22 years in prison in the death of her 2-month-old son.

Media outlets report 21-year-old Michelle Pruitt was sentenced Monday in Danville Circuit Court. She pleaded guilty in November to felony murder and child abuse and neglect.

Pruitt’s 2-month-old son, Alphonza O’Brien Fuller III, died last April.

Danville Commonwealth’s Attorney Michael Newman has said the baby suffered blunt force trauma to his chest, head trauma and multiple fractures to the ribs on two days. The injuries occurred on April 3 and April 19.
