Virginia Tech to begin demolition of cadet dorm

BEDFORD, Va. — A former Corps of Cadets dormitory at Virginia Tech is being demolished.

WDBJ-TV reports that the demolition of Rasche Hall will begin Tuesday.

Rasche Hall and another former cadet dorm, Brodie Hall, will be replaced with modern facilities. Rasche Hall was built in 1900 and Brodie Hall was built in 1897. Sections were added to both buildings in 1957.

Virginia Tech plans to preserve another building on the Upper Quad, Lane Hall, and to apply to have it listed on the state and national historic registers.
