HANOVER, Va. — A woman has pleaded guilty in an extortion plot involving a Hanover County youth pastor.

Media outlets report 34-year-old Tonya M. Farnsworth of Henrico entered the plea Tuesday in Hanover County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors say Chris Allen Phillips paid Farnsworth $200 for oral sex after he answered an online advertisement for her services last December. She later accused him of stealing $550 from her and demanded repayment or she would go public with their encounter.

Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Angela O’Connor says Phillips paid more than $176,000 to Farnsworth over a three-month period.

Farnsworth is scheduled to be sentenced in January. Phillips is set for trial next month on charges of embezzling money from Mechanicsville Advent Christian Church.
